We are proud to support

Strong Brother Strong Sister, a culturally appropriate safe place for Aboriginal young people to access and thrive. The structure and programs they provide, guide, mentor and empower Aboriginal young people to achieve excellence.

We have a couple of outcomes to achieve:

• Raise more funds to further support SBSS program.

• Secure an other Law Firm to offer pro-bono legal services so SBSS can become a charitable Foundation.

• Introduce corporates to SBSS.

• Raised 9,242 - Money raised from BB 19 event directly helped to strengthen support to a total of 64 individuals who received support around social, emotional, health and wellbeing and suicide prevention. Each individual has had immediate access to Strong Brother Strong Sisters based Psychologist through the support of the 2 x Aboriginal Youth staff members providing the background support to ensure immediate access and support for children, young people and their families to ensure community safety and strong healthy connected communities.

• Secured Norton Rose Fulbright, providing pro-bono legal services of approx. $20,000 to make Ngarrimili, who support business and entrepreneurship opportunities amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Victoria, a charitable foundation.

Cultural Yarning

We hosted a Cultural Yarning evening at Patagonia, presented by Cormach Evans and other SBSS Youth Leaders. We listened to stories and walked away realising that we can no longer lean on Aboriginal peoples to educate us. They can’t keep reliving these horrific truths in order for us to learn. We each have the responsibility to seek and learn and take the initiative to understand more, be it through books, podcasts, leaders.
